Avoid
anything containing peanut proteins :
- Any
form of peanuts : nuts, oil, peanut butter.
- Any
sweets, biscuits or industrially prepared meals with labels
indicating unspecified "vegetable oil" (e.g. potato
chips): such products very often contain peanut oil or peanut
butter.
- Almonds
could present a particular risk : avoid almonds, tarts and
galette des Rois, tarts with marzipan, etc.
Beware of birthday cake decorations often prepared with colored marzipan.
- All
oleaginous dried fruit may be a source of problems : allergy
tests will determine which dried fruit does not induce a
reaction thus permitting the consumption of some types of
oleaginous dried fruit. However, it is not known whether
cross-contamination may occur. As a precaution, we often
recommend avoiding: walnuts, cashew nuts, pecan nuts, Brazil
nuts, Macadamia nuts, hazelnuts, pistachio nuts, almonds,
pine nuts.
- Any
ice creams decorated with powders made from "nuts" (may
contain hazelnuts, almonds, peanuts, etc.) or dried fruit
powders - unspecified - Beware of nougat !
- All
cocktail mixes.
- In
children with atopic dermatitis, avoid shampoos and pharmaceutical
preparations containing peanut or almond oil (see list below).
- Avoid
contact with bait used for fishing (containing peanuts).
Powdered foods for fish and birds (even small mammals) may
contain peanuts : risk on handling or inhaling.
- Risk
of asthma provoked by peanuts by inhalation of peanut particles
: beware of cleanliness in preschool classes, clothes, air
travel!
